Critical Race Theory has become a buzz word and catch phrase for a culture war in society today. While CRT isn’t openly taught in D20 of elsewhere as a topic for direct study, it has become a lens through which many educators have begun to look at the world. It thereby threatens to become a significant influence on our children’s worldview. There are echoes of CRT in the D20 strategic plan for 2022.
We assert that using race, gender or other superficial methods of compartmentalizing society have no place in a public school system. We must teach children that they have the ability rise above their circumstances in life. No matter what your skin color or background, life will present you with challenges and a good education will help you overcome them.
